looks to love

there are so many gorgeous looks out there this spring.... i was at my mom's house this weekend and saw the new talbots catalogue - all im going to say is wow!! they really have stepped up their game. i cant believe it but ive ordered this skirt and the pretty blush top in the bottom photo. ill let you know! but go check out their gorgeous new items and ad campaign.

also on my list for spring - prints!and anthropologie has got it covered. im hoping this dress will be my go too for the season - it should be arriving soon. and i love the elegance of the outfit to the right - big 40's sleeve on the top and that long skirt. all in a modern twist of stripes and florals. also check out their feb'11 catalogue if you havent yet

and this ring just has me over the moon. ive always loved big vintage cocktail rings and i might have to add this piece of costume jewelry to my collection -

what looks do you love this spring ??

today i wish i to wear this -

perhaps its inspired by my rainy sunday at the beach or perhaps its inspired by the amazing old pair of tall bean boots i scored that are now staring at me longingly from the closet - but i wish it was cold enough or rainy enough today to necessitate wearing an outfit like this -

scrunch down the socks, roll up the sweater cuffs so a little blue peeks out ......might even chop some wood after

a collection

thought i would start to share a few of the things that i collect....random, few and far between. this is the most extensive collection (with the exception of vintage tablecloths) that i have. I dont see them all that often but when i do i will nearly sprout wings to get to them quickly. french, creamy with a hint of yellow, gorgeous lion's heads and as i understand it for filling with yummy pates at the market

i use them for butter on the table, jam, and spice.

dear golden: provencal scarf

summer is fast approaching here in the city by the bay and as a little treat to myself i ordered this provencally looking scarf from this phenomenal vintage etsy clothing shop. the colors are totally up my alley and the weight will be wonderful for the chilly summer mornings i know are on their way

Lauren of DearGoldenVintage has such a terrific eye for beautiful vintage clothing ....tons of dresses and shoes to drool over. another thing i love about the shop - she posts in color schemes - blushes, neutrals, blues etc...making outfit selection oh so easy! check out some other things i have my eye on in her store below

vintage 1940s SPRING BLOOM blouse

vintage RUSSET Etienne Aigner satchel

vintage 1930s ARC DE TRIOMPHE Dress

vintage SAFARI khaki cotton romper

so thanks lauren for the lovely new addition!

little brown bag

i always travel with a large backpack - the thought of a rolling suitcase is just something i will not entertain - they market them as being "easier" than anything else to travel with but have you ever been late for a train in europe? suddenly having to pull something along behind you becomes utterly ridiculous and near impossible and don't even mention running up or down the stairs in those stations or on cobbled streets. so whats a girl to do???

here is the answer i have been entertaining for a while -

isnt this amazingly beautiful? a super chic brown suitcase. small enough even to fit in the over head so you can avoid those lovely extra charges. amazingly tailored and structured while at the same time casual and easy. im in love

ok so i know what your thinking but my answer is this first and foremost- yes this is enough space for a weeks worth of clothes. i think that we all have gotten in the habit of bringing along way more than we need, that is unless your going skiing and then the backpack is probably your only answer. And secondly this will be a two bag operation. how amazing would this look coupled with a bag like this

or this? and these strung crosswise over you would def. add that extra space you might need in addition to the suitcase.

wearing something like this
as seen on the sartorialist

your gonna be looking amazing as you breeze effortlessly through your traveling.
