Monday Mood Board

Saturday was my first trip to a flea market here in London. It was fun to spend a morning poking around, talking to people about their items and making a few purchases. I am particularly excited about an antique ceramic plate that was once part of a weighing scale. It has a gorgeous brown makers stamp on it and will make the perfect cheese board!

I noticed that there were many pieces decorated with a sort of faux tortoise shell look. It immediately started seeing it everywhere and I think its just lovely. Super chic and bit earthy and very elegant. 

So this Monday's mood board is inspired by my trip to the flea market this weekend and my new found love of tortoise shell.

Todays entire post is inspired by the gorgeous dress of Scott Corridan. It is beautifully feminine and romantic. And this dress if filled with an old world glamour that is so seductive. That cashmere crewel work on the bodice is to die for and I love anything in a shirt style.

well, here it is monday again! How has this summer just flown by? Im tying to remind myself to stop and smell the roses or at least sip the rosé. 
That is the inspiration for this week. As of today I have been engaged for an entire year! A year!! I cant believe its been that much time and then when I think of all of the things that have happened since then it shocks me ~ 
I hope you all are enjoying your summers and remembering to stop and take a little time too. 

Currently seeing this color everywhere and not usually drawn to pinks but this subtly feminine tone is quite appealing. I especially love the thought of pink sheets with a dove grey duvet.

Clean lines, simple pallets, good bones & classicism. All of these have inspired this weeks mood board. 
I love the uncluttered outcome. I am conscious of keeping things to an absolute minimum in this new space. I love the architectural details like the black and marble fire place, the 12' high ceilings and the slightly cathedral shaped windows. I want these things to stand out most.

Inspired by pillows in a cozy banquet at breakfast this weekend. I'm seeing indigo everywhere. An ancient dyeing process, it had long been a traditional color and never ceases to capture my attention.

Yesterday was the most perfect of fall days and it was a beautiful day to stroll about the city and usher in the new season. the farmers market was full to the brim with every sized gourd, squash, green and orchard bounty.

Do you ever find at times you feel more inspired than others? I am sure you have probably felt this way at some point. Thats how blogging has felt the last few weeks, lacking inspiration. 
But the change of seasons always inspires me and I am off to new york on wednesday and very much looking forward to it. It has been too long since i was last there. I have a list a mile long of things I want to do and places I want to visit. I am so excited to see old friends and simply stroll for a while in a city that is not mine. 
I am feeling inspired already!

Its a brand new month! Summer is fully upon us and in a few short days we will be gathering and celebrating American independence. 


I just cant believe i have been away from this space for almost an entire month. It has been filled with new experiences, friends, family, travels and of course a whole lot of work. I am excited to share over the next few weeks. 


But today Im kicking off my return with a blast of color and summer flavor.

this monday ive got navy on the brain. It is an all time favorite and i tend to favor it as a classic color that can be both elegant and casual. We are heading to a wedding in DC this week and the color is all about navy!

i keep seeing this gorgeous coral color everywhere at the moment. I can not wait for the big lush peonies to come into the market ... a sure sign that summer is near. I had fun at some estate sales this week and I am looking forward to lots of floral work this week.

and so i am back from my east coast adventure. Boxes filled with treasure and smiles all around. It was nice to be away but as always, it is nice to be home. 
And what a welcomed sight it was to arrive and find my lemon tree FULL of blooms. their sweet smell has been floating through the doors and windows and I cant get that dreamy scent off my mind.

inspired by a beautifully quite weekend. It was filled with visual inspiration and slow afternoons. The alameda flea market happened on sunday and it was a perfect seventy degree day. I strolled through layers and layer of history for hours and hours. sheer bliss. a scant few items were chosen but they are pick of the litter.
on saturday i spent my weekend alone with my city. Sometimes in the hustle of it all I forget to stop and really look a the places around me. I poked into the public library, a few shops..i sat out at a sidewalk cafe with a cup of black tea and watched for a while...and i found a delicious new bakery to love which  makes a divine and very rustic baguette.
