yesterday in the fabric store i watched in awe as the girl in front of me pulled bolt after beautiful bolt from her stack. moody deep blues, stripes and checks, sheer window pane white and soft creams of various tones. I found myself thinking about her choices for the rest of the day and into the evening.
Such lovely choices. I have no idea what she was going to use them for but I imagined a pretty line of new spring clothes, a bit girlie but perfectly casual ~ who knows but her choices became my inspiration for this monday mood board.
bowls, chocolate bar, cups and saucers, buffalo check, whisk & spoon, stripes & silver, wine cups.

the professor
the other day i found my self quite inspired by this simple vintage desk chair. (sorry for the poor phone camera quality)
a nod to mid century i couldn't help but conjure the professor. bookishly handsome, cardigan or blazer, it hardly matters, with leather patches at the elbows, horn rimmed glasses and a weathered but captivating smell of tobacco encircling him. in an instant i glimpsed his home office. A large wooden slab desk with gorgeous patina, a wall covered in ornate antique gold frames, empty so that one may appreciate all their intricate detail, comfy siesta chairs for reading, plenty of old books, and accents of candlelight, brass, wool and hide. btw an inspiration board via the internet is hard - made me appreciate fabric samples and colored pencils.

Sawkille Collective

im actually sorta at a loss for words - having just stumbled upon the beautiful work being made here at the Sawkille Collective.

tucked away in the catskill mountains a group of artists are working to create some of the most inspired american furniture i have ever seen. I love how it plays off the familiar shaker styles so indicative of this region - simple, functional, beautiful - but with an ultra modern twist.

park chairs project
amazing yes - usable at this moment - not really. structurally they are sound, they just need a little cosmetic overhaul - in the realm of either paint or re-varnishing them. but the biggest and most fun part of this little diy project i have decided to under take? fabric. the seats of these chairs all "rest" on the fabric - no fabric? no way the chair will even stand up. so now i am on a mission for 1 yard of very very strong fabric - i've also thought about needle point (though its not really my style) or trying to refabricate a lightweight rug of some sort into seats for these two cuties -
wish me luck and stay tuned there will be progress updates - if you have any suggestions, comments or inspiration please send it my way i would love to hear your ideas

terriffic trays
happy monday all - so this weekend i decided that some sort of a tray would look really cool on my large round brown leather tufted ottoman/coffee table - either on top of a stack of books or in place of them. what i cant really decide on however is if i like a more casual or more formal look - ive posted some trays in both categories that i find myself loving!!
i found the following 4 items all on etsy by searching tray and home decor
this one is a nice intersection of the casual elements of wood and the formal elements of metal in the following trays
and the ones below are more formal but i think they are still simple and certainly sophisticated enough to be demure on my table -
