flowers for friday

lots of rich color and texture all set off by a stunning blue and white asian inspired vase. oxblood french tulips, watermelon peonies, tiny fuchsia dutch tulips and some of the season's last dogwood.... its voluptuous and velvety and not at all hard to look at.  

flea market find

i found this amazing jim thompson dress at the flea market on sunday. it looks like it was never worn! i cant imagine why, because it is so beautiful. the colors are rich and vibrant and perfect for summer - its a nice vintage twist on the oh so popular maxi dress. and it has pockets!!

i was delighted to find that it fit perfectly-  im thinking i will pair it with a wide leather belt, a pair of pretty jewel tone sandals & a few big chunky wood bracelets. 

a patterned fantasy.

i saw this large, graphically patterned couch yesterday & it was love at first sight. i just adore its large but sophisticated markings, and the earthy color pallet. some of you may have seen my tweet yesterday, but i was quite smitten with this henredon sofa. so smitten in fact that i was inspired to create an entire room for it.... what do you think. 


check out that amazing antelope coffee table! its so fabulous and looks great with the couch and i LOVE the combination of the royal blue for a punch of color with all the other earth tones......i wish i had the space to create it in real life!

morning ritual

this weekend was crazy. wedding season is in full swing & with 1 or 2 each weekend there is lots of work to be done. i dont mind though, i love the fast pace, of course the flowers & then seeing it all come together on the final day. this is my 4th wedding season & i never tire of seeing each wedding through till the end. 


but exhaustion is a huge part of the game too. i worked 14 hours days both friday and saturday. this makes the morning ritual very important. i used to only drink coffee in the afternoon, tea in the morning, & only if it was made by someone else. 


recently i have switched - i use a french press to make my coffee in the morning. i have been trying out beans from the different establishments around the city. 


but there is something peaceful about taking those 10 minutes in the morning to make my little pot of coffee.
