i adore these delightfully bright and whimsical designs by Lotta Kuhlhorn a swedish born illustrator. many of her designs are translated into textiles; perfect to punch up a kitchen or for fun pillows in a breakfast nook. she also creates the most wonderful book cover illustrations.

a collection. part 2

the smallest and newest of my collections- bird pitchers. they were mostly made during and just after WW2 in japan and many were brought state-side after the war. I love their whimsy.

I use the yellow one for sunday breakfast. its perfect for milk for coffees. I sorta hate having a milk carton on the table -
I see these often, but they are usually between 40-100$. thats why i only have two - i only buy them when i love them and they are a good price.
hope you love em too!

fabrics by heather ross

in this fantasy, the house is also filled with light airy pretty colored fabric- inspired by the sea and and the air and all things green -i just found out this fabric is (luckily) not a fantasy - and is in fact made by the fabulous Heather Ross - an east coast transplant raised on the northern cost of california - her designs are delightful and whimsical yet amazingly sophisticated. i love that she has taken a creature like the octopus which is fun and beachy and placed it over the refined quatrefoil pattern

this is what some very talented individuals have done with ms. ross's fabrics - i just imagine this on an old iron bed with crisp white cotton sheets -

here are some other of her designs that i really enjoy that i really enjoy!!
