lotta kuhlhorn

i adore these delightfully bright and whimsical designs by Lotta Kuhlhorn a swedish born illustrator. many of her designs are translated into textiles; perfect to punch up a kitchen or for fun pillows in a breakfast nook. she also creates the most wonderful book cover illustrations.
she has also designed some fabrics for ikea like the fantastic sea print above. i might need to make a tablecloth! and look for some of her textiles and housewares at huset. i especially love the pink radishes.

a collection. part 2

the smallest and newest of my collections- bird pitchers. they were mostly made during and just after WW2 in japan and many were brought state-side after the war. I love their whimsy.

I use the yellow one for sunday breakfast. its perfect for milk for coffees. I sorta hate having a milk carton on the table -
I see these often, but they are usually between 40-100$. thats why i only have two - i only buy them when i love them and they are a good price.

hope you love em too!

the whimsy of Felix Dolittle

a few days ago a very lovely wedding invitation came in the mail from a very lovely couple. I was so excited not only at the though of their nuptials but by the very invitation itself, i was pleasantly surprised when i flipped over the invite and found the insignia of felix dolittle -

i love the bright fresh design of this stationary and the little matching illustration on the envelope - its too perfect

the whimsy and simple elegance of this stationary press is wonderful! i spent the next few hours perusing the website and was even more delighted by each item i clicked on! any of these wedding invitations would be so perfect for a garden or country wedding -

i hope you find his designs as fantastic as i do!!

fabrics by heather ross

so i woke up this morning thinking about my little fantasy space - from when i was 6 - yup the sheeps' cottage at my gg-gparents farm. in my fantasy its a cozy space large enough to live in and flooded with warm summer light -

in this fantasy, the house is also filled with light airy pretty colored fabric- inspired by the sea and and the air and all things green -i just found out this fabric is (luckily) not a fantasy - and is in fact made by the fabulous Heather Ross - an east coast transplant raised on the northern cost of california - her designs are delightful and whimsical yet amazingly sophisticated
. i love that she has taken a creature like the octopus which is fun and beachy and placed it over the refined quatrefoil pattern

this is what some very talented individuals have done with ms. ross's fabrics - i just imagine this on an old iron bed with crisp white cotton sheets -

here are some other of her designs that i really enjoy that i really enjoy!!
